Aviary Birds & Silkie Chickens Lovingly Raised & Sold
Madera, California

About Us

We are located in Madera, California near Fresno in the Central Valley.  Deb's Birds is NOT a bird farm. We are a backyard aviary where every one of our birds is raised with love and attention. We know the names of each of our breeders and the exact date each little egg was laid. To many this may seem like a lot of extra work, but we think all birds deserve the same attention regardless of their size and value.

We have membership in and highly recommend the following clubs & groups:

Deb's Procedures

Our birds are fed an excellent diet including a variety of seed, pellets, fresh greens, fruits, eggfood, vitamins, & supplements. Before entering the aviary, all new birds go through an extensive quarantine procedure and throughout the year we follow a complete avian health program. All birds are parent raised (no fosters are used) in our outdoor aviary. We band birds with closed aluminum bands which have unique numbers and the year of hatch imprinted on them for positive identification and easy record keeping of individual birds.

Deb's Policies

  • EGGS
    • Our fertile hatching eggs are gathered fresh, marked with the date they were collected, turned twice daily, and kept cool. Beyond that there are NO GUARANTEES. Too many things can happen during transport and incubation, so we cannot be held responsible for eggs after they leave our care.
    • A 30-70% hatch rate is considered normal when using an incubator. Using a Brower Top Hatch incubator, our 2007 Silkie hatches ranged from 67% to 100%, and our Button Quail hatches have ranged from 43% to 71%.
  • BIRDS
    • Deb's Birds is not responsible for illness or death once birds have left our care. We also cannot guarantee sex, age expectancy or breeding performance.
    • Due to the high cost and potential risks involved, we DON'T ship birds.
    • Deb's Birds will always accept back any HEALTHY birds that you are unable to keep for any reason (ie. extra roosters, show defaults, etc.). There will be NO REFUNDS on returned birds, but we may consider trades for other birds and/or additional fertile hatching eggs.
    • We are always glad to email photos or answer any questions that may arise.  You may inquire via email anytime to deb@debsbirds.com for support.  :o)

Welcome to our little aviary! It is currently home to many lovely birds. They all live together happily and raise their little ones outdoors here in sunny California. Enjoy your visit here at Deb's Birds!  :o)

We cover the front of the aviary with plastic for the winter (usually from November to April).
